Crossroads Opens Satellite Office In Fishersville

Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery is pleased to announce the opening of its first satellite office located on the Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center campus in Fishersville. Crossroads opened a small office in the Brain Injury Services Unit at Woodrow Wilson in October in order to better serve individuals who reside in the Augusta County area. A number of Crossroads’ clients attend programs or receive services through Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center making that an ideal location for another office.

6. Concussion Management Bill Introduced in Congress
Members of the House of Representatives have introduced the Concussion Treatment and Care Tools Act of 2009 (HR 1347), a bill designed to ensure adoption, dissemination, and implementation by elementary and secondary schools of concussion management guidelines for the purpose of better treatment and awareness of the injuries of the estimated 3.8 million young people that suffer sports and recreational concussions each year.


7. Fewer deaths occurring from brain bleeds
Better diagnosis and treatment have led to fewer deaths from the rupture of a blood vessel on the surface of the brain, Dutch researchers say.


8. Research investigates the treatment of traumatic brain and head injury
The National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA) programme is expanding the evidence base surrounding the treatment of traumatic brain and head injury (TBI) by commissioning four new research projects.

Cognitive impairment often includes problems with attention, orientation, mood regulation, thinking, self-awareness, memory, language, visual perception, and communication and tends to reduce the individuals ability to actively participate in treatment. These special problems require special knowledge and skills. Our clinical and support staff specializes in this area of treatment.

Northeast Center for Special Care is designed to serve individuals with acquired brain injury. It is a one-of-a-kind facility and the largest brain injury treatment program in the world.


10. VA Moves Austin Brain Injury Lab To Waco TEXAS
The Department of Veterans Affairs is moving its Brain Injury and Recovery Laboratory from the University of Texas in Austin to the Waco VA Hospital’s Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans, acting VA Under Secretary For Health Dr. Gerald Cross said Thursday.
